College Applications Boot Camp
Why wait until September, when you'll have AP Classes, basketball practice. that awesome internship, student council, We the People, and a dozen other commitments to balance? Don't squeeze your college planning into what may already be your busiest year yet; get it all done this summer and show up for the first day of Senior Year relaxed and confident instead.
During this intensive five-day workshop, your student will complete all the pieces of the Common App in just one week. Working in small groups, each student builds a digital academic resume, drafts and revises polished, thoughtful responses to the Common App Essay Prompts, completes all the required forms, and creates a strategic plan for requesting letters of recommendation. Students will have light work to do in the evenings, while the instructor edits and reviews the day’s essay drafts.
By Friday afternoon, all the work is done, and your family can spend the spare moments of the last year of high school focusing on the OTHER important pieces of this puzzle, like standardized testing and building a college selection list! (We can help with that too.)

Essay Writer's Weekend Retreat
It's important to know what colleges are looking for, but equally important to slow down and craft an authentic and positive essay. Unfortunately, finding time to really focus on responding to those cryptic application essay prompts can be really difficult during the school year. Spend a distraction free weekend with Writing Rockstar and write a great Common Application essay, stress-free.
Retreats meet Friday after school for introductions and writing prompts, three hours on Saturday and three hours on Sunday. Participants should plan to spend Friday and Saturday evenings writing and revising. The retreat package includes one follow-up proofread via email.
This retreat is more than seven hours of face-to-face essay coaching with me in a small workshop setting, plus two personal revisions!
$1,000 for two participants; $350 for each additional up to 5 students.
Retreat locations are flexible and by mutual agreement.
Test-Taking Strategies Course
This workshop focuses on test-taking strategies that will help you earn your highest ACT, SAT, and AP Exam scores. We'll cover the mechanics of standardized tests, multiple-choice strategies, time-management issues, guessing, and other strategies that will help you understand how to make the most of your time on test day. These strategies can make a big score difference!
While we won't be specifically reviewing test content, we will discuss some good study strategies you can apply to your own content review, and each week will include timed practice questions. For highly-motivated students, a guided content review add-on is available for an additional fee (and of course requires additional work!)
The workshop will also include a full practice test plus personalized scoring and analysis.
Workshop meets one hour per week for four weeks
plus a three-hour practice test on one Saturday morning.
